Local facilitator

Hello, my name is Philip Tory, and I live in Gloucester about a mile from the city centre. In response to someone asking me about my background, here's a brief outline. But I hate laying out my credentials and don't want this to appear boastful.

  • I became a Christian in the late '80s.
  • I started my preacher training as a C. of E. 'Lay Reader' in the early 90s.
  • I and my wife were baptized at Cirencester Baptist Church in the mid-90s.
  • I have been a Lay Preacher around Gloucestershire ever since - mainly in Baptist Churches, plus some free evangelical churches, Anglican, Methodist, congregational and others. Explaining things so that people can understand.
  • My wife and I are now members of Stonehouse Baptist Church in Gloucestershire.
  • I am on the West of England Baptist Association (WEBA) list of Lay Preachers.
  • I was on the Prayer Ministry Team for a few years at the Harnhill Centre for Christian Healing, up to about 1996.
  • I was Local Area Representative for Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) for three years, 2007-9.
  • I have been on evangelistic missions with Through Faith Missions (TFM) (TFM) almost every year since 2005, including two short missions to the Maasai, out in the bush in Kenya. I also went on a short mission to the Ukraine in 2000.
  • Many years ago, I studied Physics, Electronics and Control Engineering at university level, and I have diplomas in Marketing and Management.
  • I have been an electronics engineer. I was in Sales for 20 years or more, explaining things so that people can understand; and then a Software Product and QA manager for 3 years.
  • Since 2000, I have run a business as a Technical Author, writing technical manuals for companies - explaining things so that people can understand. I also run Technical Writing Courses across the UK/Europe.

Well, that's enough about me. I wonder what your story is?
